Based on this video, it looks like neither aircraft was descending. It looks like a straight on hit by the copter.

Clearly the plane was descending.

Almost looks like the plane was trying to pull up and to the left to avoid the chopper

The chopper definitely appears to be flying level in that span of time captured on the video. Seems like a typical flight path for the chopper.

So you’re claiming both ran into each other on purpose? Lol. Come on man

Nope...It looks like the plane was headed toward a runway and the copter was heading straight into the path of the plane.Granted, CRJ are not that fast, but the copters are much more manuervable. I don't understand how the copter pilot could not see that plane coming based on the angle.

1. The CRJ was descending for landing on runway 33 and was at 350'-400' in a critical stage of flight and the crew was focusing on landing.
2. Helo was supposedly limited to a 200' max altitude, but was exceeding it by 150'-200'.
3. Helo crew may have had on night vision, which might have caused them to suffer some disorientation as to depth perception and light pollution. Probably especially true if the PIC was in training.
4. Helo crew may also have seen jet aircraft other than the the CRJ they were supposed to be tracking (maintaining visual separation) and did not see the CRJ descending from above and to the left.
5. This was just a horrible mishap.

They would absolutely be wearing them and this is actually the first I’ve seen someone bring that up. Kudos DSJ

Do we know yet who had the controls on the helicopter?
