My guess is he knows his name is on payouts that will be revealed. He can’t go on record saying the payments are nefarious. He needs to be able to say “I had no idea” this is where, what, when, how the money was spent. Idk, these people are crooks. No wonder they stay in Congress for 40 years.

I'm in his district and I can tell you it's very difficult to replace an incumbent. That goes for any member of the House.
The problem is that Dan can fight off primary candidates because of his incumbent status. Then, we have no choice but to vote for Dan vs his Democrat challenger in the general.
