Ted may accept this job, but I think he likes being insulated from Trump for his job security. SCOTUS was always too low-profile for him.

Nay. He just got re-elected for another 6 years in an election that was a lot closer than anybody expected. You wanna give Beto a 2nd chance to run against a non-incumbent in a special election?

I guess it could work. Abbott would nominate his replacement in the senate.

For the full term or we looking at a temporary appoinment and special election like Alabama for Sessions’ old seat?

He talked about this, but feels the Dems shot their political wad and wasted so much money on Beto and still came short.
You'd certainly have a bulldog in Cruz that would not be wishy washy

Still wouldnt want to chance it and end up with another Doug Jones. Not after how close Beto got. Would be too big of a boost for the Dems to flip a senate seat in a solid red state.

I understand the sentiment.

In Texas the governor appoints a senator of the same party like Arizona.

Only a few states do this, others have a special election like Alabama.

Here’s what I’d like to see.

Appoint Cruz AG and let Abbott replace him with someone who will kick Beto’s arse.

Let RBG die and Trump replace her with Amy Barrett.

Cruz does AG time until Brier retires (Trump’s second term) then replace Brier with Cruz.

This may sound weird, but I dont think Trump and Cruz would get along a ton, and that actually might be a good thing for Cruz to boost his profile.

I'd like to see Tony Buzbee as Senator just to trigger the frick out of both the left and the t-sips.

He's the AGGIE version of Trump.

He was the one who called for Sumlin to be fired immediately after the UCLA game last season.

He is also the one who bought a tank, parked it and dared the police to try to have it towed.

frick no. Supreme Court.

If Trump makes Cruz AG now Abbott would appoint someone and then probably call a special election since we have 6 years left for that seat. Beto runs again against some Republican nobody and smokes him.

I was thinking Cruz since before Sessions was nominated. AG would be right in Cruz's wheelhouse.

He was an excellent AG for Texas.
