Face masks will be mandatory in the Dallas Independent School District beginning Tuesday, Superintendent Michael Hinojosa announced in a Monday morning news conference.

"As a parent, resident and as your Dallas County Judge, I am so proud of [Dallas ISD] for protecting students and staff!" Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins wrote in a tweet soon after Hinojosa's announcement. "Their actions will lead to more hospital bed space for ANY condition in North Texas."

Gauntlet thrown down by the leftists to challenge Abbott. Other leftist ISDs will soon follow. Abbott has to fight this.

I guarantee you his kids do not go to a general population DISD school. Maybe a magnet…

As a parent with a fifteen year old, I an grateful for Abbott and before my school district follows suit, I hope Abbott discovers his balls and jumps all over this and squelches it.

Lots of folks watching closely to what he and DeSantis do.

Exactly. And someone has to be willing to show up everyday even after being "suspended" or "expelled" and show up to class without his mask and face being arrested for trespassing. That is the only way.

If you are reading this, it has to be you.

Does it apply to all the newly enrolled illegals or only to US citizens?

No. Students have to fight this. Students have to be willing to say frick this I'm not wearing a mask or its not going to happen. Everything that is being done is only going to affect them. It's all about their state of mind and whether or not they want to be controlled.

Good point. Liberal MSM talking point I just heard on the news (and probably disseminated thruout the state) is this is being done in spite of Abbott’s policy.

For those not familiar Dallas ISD is inner city Dems.
Normal people live in the ring of ISDs surrounding Dallas.

PT Board: What makes the ISD model great is local control! No state mandates! Local voice! Local control!

Also PT Board: How dare the local ISD make a decision! How dare they go against what the governor - who has nothing to do with education - wants!

Gov. Abbott needs to pull funding for the administrators, but nothing else.

Just dock their pay for insubordination.

HInojosa recognized that there may be legal challenges or fines associated with his decision. Abbott's order imposes a $1,000 fine for violations.

The superintendent said he is willing to pay whatever fines the district incurs out of his own pocket.

"I'd rather face that consequence of having to pay some money than to get further behind with these students," he said.
The question I have is, is it $1000 fine a day, a $1000 fine in total or a $1000 fine per day per student?

If it's as simple as a $1000 fine, then every school district will follow Dallas ISD's challenge and Abbott will look extremely weak going into the elections.

Uhh... the administrators report to the superintendent. The superintendent reports to the ELECTED board of trustees.

No one in this chain reports to Abbott.

How in the hell can anyone be insubordinate to Abbott?

If the kids want to protest, and if the parents (i.e. the voters who voted for the school board, who the super reports to) want to support that protest / vote out the board members, I 100 percent support this.

That's how this works.

Independent? As in private?

Students shouldn't have to fight this. Pull your kids from these schools and let them deal with it.

So brave of the superintendent to pay for the fines for his policy out of the taxpayers pockets.

Is this fine gentlemen paying the fines personally?
