the gay gene

This may be the next generation of rodent control. Just splice that gene in pest rats and mice and let them reproduce. In theory the gay gene would dominate and they would quit reproducing, and voila, no more rats.

Given that pro-life people don't even abort their children when they find out early that the child has downs syndrome, I would think you would be surprised.

Poor analogy since attitudes towards kids with disabilities arent rooted in dogmatic thinking ie religion the way that attitudes towards abortion are.

Something will have to give as all these "facts" cannot be reconciled.

Not a bad analogy at all, especially considering the line of posting I was responding about. Buckeye was trying to make a point that pro-life religious people would flip on their position about abortion if a gay gene was discovered. I don't believe that to be the case. Others besides him even stated that many would abort their children for no other reason than knowing the child would wind up gay.

The combination of those two positions is why I made my analogy about Downs.
People who believe it is murder to abort a child wouldn't do so for any reason.

When my wife and I were having our 7th child, our doctor did genetic testing. He said the results showed the baby would have multiple deformities and it would be best if we aborted. It was not something we even remotely considered, since we believe abortion is murder and we would not have been able to live with ourselves if we would have done it. Needless to say the testing was wrong and our youngest daughter was perfectly healthy.

Furthermore from a "religious" point of view even those of us who believe that Homosexuality is sin, it is the act that is sin not the desire. No-one has to act on base desires even if they were genetically pre-disposed to do so.

Again I will add that the gay gene is a bad hypothetical since there isn't a gay gene.
