I sure wish some of that rain would find it's way to east central Georgia. Lake Thurmond is dropping daily now and is starting to look a little sad.

My place in northern Arkansas is on a lake that we’ve never seen this low. The dock only has a foot or so of water by it.

I hope this El Nino brings us plenty of precipitation this winter like they're saying it should. The crappie fishing hasn't been what it should be the past few years. At least, my normal spots aren't any good. Beaver has been too low.

That purple area on your rainfall map in the Eastern Pacific looks like some evil, menacing sea monster-- but climate change and a 10,000 year El Niño will do that to you.

Much of the South has been abnormally dry and hotter than usual the last two months -- even in my area of eastern Texas. However just fifty miles east a couple of weeks ago, Tropical Storm Eduardo drenched a swath of land about 50 miles wide and 150 miles long with literally feet of rain.

I seem to remember one that hit back in September of 1976

We get good rain 50 miles to the north in Missouri. A fair amount 50 miles to the south and same to the east. Very little at our place. Every lake in our county is drying up. Water is probably close to 5 ft below normal in our lake.
It’s going to take a lot to get back to where it needs to be. Lots of big trees dropping leaves, and a some may die.
When it does rain, there is no runoff. The ground sucks it up and begs for more.

Guy name of Charles Hatfield manufactured rain out there in California, way back when. Just letting y’all know. For what it’s worth.

Never heard of Charles Hatfield. And he didn't cook up Hurricane Kathleen in 1976, which caused 12 deaths in San Diego and Imperial Counties, and hundreds of millions of dollars of damage, including tearing out a large section of Interstate 8.
