1) Antibody tests usually involve ELISA kits.

2) To be very accurate these require monoclonal antibodies specific to Covid 19.

3) Monoclonal antibodies are generally only well produced via hybridomas and getting a model setup to produce them takes time.

4) Producing them, validating them, and then mass producing them takes time.

Some of you people really have no idea how much time it takes to do things right. Medical science is not like the electronics industry. It moves significantly slower, especially when it requires biologics rather than simple chemical components.

But of course, it should have been available to everyone 5 weeks ago according to some of you.

God Damn there are some stupid people out there.

I never pretended to know how an antibody test comes together. I was simply wondering why it takes there has been zero testing of this nature and you obviously know a lot about it and partly answered my question.

Why be an a##hole about it though? I was simply asking why probably the single most important testing strategy to help more quickly end this crisis and the resulting shutdown wasn't available yet.

You did a good job explaining why antibody testing isn't yet ready and you could have left it at that but for some reason you decided to be d###head to someone asking a sincere question about it.
