There's a vote today, I believe to put women in the draft. My thoughts:

1. No, I don't want women drafted. This is insane.
2. Women always want to be equal until it's time to pay dues. Time to out up or shut up.
3. Repubs always argue it would make more sense to eliminate the selective service than sigb up women. I agree. Where's that bill, o brave white knight?
4. I assume this is a distraction. What is hiding in this bill other than another billion for the piano playing fruit beating Putin?

When all a guy has to do to dodge the draft is declare he is a she,

you pretty much have to include women.

Alternatively: "No. You're a man."

Also a solution. Or eliminate it altogether.

Either women are exactly the same as men in every way or they aren't.

If they aren't, then all the old rules should come back (combat exclusion policy, no women in combat aircraft,
serving aboard navy combat ships, etc.)

If they are, then this doesn't go far enough. There should be a single standard across the board (draft registering/eligibility, height/weight, haircut/appearance, physical training standards, the whole megillah.)

People need to go on record. Either women are exactly the same as men when it comes to things like that or they aren't. It's a yes or no question.

I remember when I was 18 and had to sign up for selective service being nervous about a possible draft, that was forty years ago…

I guess I don’t have to worry anymore….

Absolutely. Draft women. Equality is equality. In fact, to make up for the absolute paucity of female battlefield deaths historically, women need to pay some reparations as it were and be at the absolute tip of whatever happens next and put some blood equity into society.

Well, you cannot scream equality, equality without true equality...

On a side note, didn't they do away with the registration requirement? So, what has me curious is why are they pushing something like this now...
