Voting is like a primitive religious ceremony, for some jungle tribe, where everyone prostrates themselves before their new king, and kisses the ring.

Voting legitimizes the system, by participating, we acknowledge the politicians right to rule over us, and we accept the rules they impose on us.

What it doesn’t do is influence policy positions.

If it did, the Republican Party policy would reflect the interests of the poor white people, and often religious white people, who vote for the GOP.

Instead, it’s actively hostile to their economic interests, and instead, promotes policies that benefit the richest in America.
