False.

The official determination of whether the U.S. economy is in a recession is made by the Business Cycle Dating Committee of NBER. The NBER's definition has not changed.

So...your position is that the Trump admin lied about jobs numbers

Nope, my position is clear. Here it is again.

I am pointing out the fact that revising employment figures is common regardless of who is President. To claim the administration is "lying", regardless of who is in power, is delusional.

No, your position is stupid. You posted a completely different scenario that is in no way comparable.

NY Post

quote:

In the home stretch of the 2012 presidential campaign, from August to September, the unemployment rate fell sharply — raising eyebrows from Wall Street to Washington.

The decline — from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 percent in September — might not have been all it seemed. The numbers, according to a reliable source, were manipulated.

And the Census Bureau, which does the unemployment survey, knew it.

Just two years before the presidential election, the Census Bureau had caught an employee fabricating data that went into the unemployment report, which is one of the most closely watched measures of the economy.

Posts like this only confirm your ignorance of how a recession is determined.

The facts are clear, there was no change in the definition of a recession. NBER has had the same definition for decades and they look at a wide verity of economic indicators, not just GDP.

"a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in production, employment, real income, and other indicators".

Job growth was strong, real incomes were up, consumer demand was strong. It wasn't a recession. Nothing changed.

The entire financial news world has used 2 negative quarters IS a recession for my lifetime. Every news network for 50 years said that was a recession. Simple fact. I stated CNBC has used that as the key indicator and they did before Biden. And yes, the wiki page was 100% changed. But go ahead and bring up some bullshite that has absolutely NOTHING to do with me saying the media and CNBC have ALWAYS done.

Just another lying liberal. Or ignorant of what CNBC has ALWAYS used to indicate a recession.

Go back and read what you actually wrote.

They actually changed the definition of recession and even CNBC went along with it.

It is pretty clear that the "they" you are referring to is the Biden administration. "They" did not change anything. NBER is what every Presidential administration has used for decades. Their definition has not change.

If you do a tiny bit of research you would know this lie has been debunked.

Pretty clear I meant the fricking media. But keep lying. We were discussing the fricking media NOT some financial group that you believe define recession for the whole world. So when I said THEY, anyone not trying to cover for the lying sacks of shite known as the media understands EXACTLY what I meant.

I also made it CLEAR when I said CNBC and WIKI. But pat yourself on the back for protecting the mainstream lying sacks of shite.

good boy. yes you are. Good little sheep.

NEBR is just for America, hence the word “National” in their name. They have been around for over 100 years. They are also non-partisan, several Republicans on the 8 person panel.

Again, you claimed “they” changed the definition and CNBC went along with it. The definition was not changed and it is still the same today.

You are truly being obtuse. You know exactly what I meant. Baaaa! Baaaa! Sheeple.

I don't see anywhere in my post where I said NEBR but keep misconstruing what I said like a good little goosestepping sheep. I specifically called out CNBC and Wiki.
