I saw an episode of TJ Hooker on MeTV or something and he was griping because the choke hold was banned in L.A. and it took away an effect tool of law enforcement. This episode was from 35-40 years ago. The choke hold has been banned for quite some time. Plus the choke hold is never taught and has never been taught to be executed with a knee to the back of the neck. This was an illegal and apparently premeditated act of one criminal, which may not have even been racially motivated.

Someone resists and forces the officers to escalate or the officer goes to far and kills someone? We both know the answer

Can we put an “all bets are off” clause in there to protect the cops? Like if you swing at the cops, spit at the cops, push the cops, attack the cops they have the right to protect themselves.
If they have choke hold ban what’s the point of having or not having a body camera??
Are we going off the cops word or cameras? When does protecting oneself become abuse?
All for a cop protecting himself, but they can not be judge and juror, that's why we have courts.
Choke holds should be banned.

Yes, at that point neither is a criminal as they have not been convicted of a crime. That being said, one had reasonable suspicion and resisted. The other has reason to use a level of force, did not follow training and guidelines, and now is reasonably detained.
All that being said I completely agree with the following post from earlier:

I think it's worth considering the fact that if you put an officer in a choke, the officer would certainly believe that to be deadly force and would be justified in shooting in response. Or, if an officer saw a partner being choked out by a suspect, the officer would be justified in running up and shooting the suspect in the head. If we recognize the use of choking against officers as a deadly force attack, we should probably also recognize that the use of chokes by officers constitutes a potentially deadly use of force.

I get choked several times a week training Jiu Jitsu. On some days, it can be multiple times within an hour. Me nor any of the other students in my Academy have yet to die from it. Perhaps the problem is training? Just a thought.
I'm thinking the problem is that when George Floyd tapped out, nobody stopped choking him.

Is this even a serious question?
