It wouldn't surprise me at all of the plan is to start war. I think Russia is in on it and working with the US. World government people are corrupt.

Why do the armchair soldiers care so much about a perceived "black eye"?

Half the Poli board acts like we should nuke a country because their leader called ours ugly or some shite

Could you imagine the uproar if a Chinese "research" vessel was spotted in the Gulf of Mexico? But we act shocked when the Chinese do exactly the same thing we'd do.

I've operated these "drones" for years in the civilian world. Even done a few surveys for the Navy with them. The drone in question is called an AUV (autonomous underwater vehicle). And most likely was either built by Kongsberg (Gasp a Norwegian company) or Bluefin (General Dynamics). Additionally, the information on it is high resolution bathymetry data, subbottom imaging, and sidescan sonar.

As a Navy veteran this concerns me due to the balls of China to capture this, but the information contained within is of no real concern. All of the processing software and instruments to collect the data are free market and research institutions in China use the EXACT same AUVs.

Quite honestly I wouldn't blame China for going to war with us if we tried that one. That has to be against the Geneva Conventions somehow as well.

Lol wut? I swear, the amount the Geneva Convention gets thrown on this board is astounding.

As if seizing an enemy's merchant ships is some sort of warcrime

It may be an act of war but it's certainly no war crime.

No chance this is a reaction to Trump's latest comments?

No.

China doesn't make foreign policy moves based on phone calls. They set their policy to reap the benefits years and decades later. Americans think of four year election cycles.
