The "right wing" people had a legal permit to hold their demonstration. The people there spread the gamut from just good ole baws who wanted to protect the statues to full fledged neo-Nazis.
At some point ANTIFA got wind, showed up with no permits looking to start trouble and the rest is history. Of course, all we hear is "so you want to protect Nazis?" My answer is "Yes." They have a right to hold their little rally just as any other group does. I am so sick of hearing the argument that we "can't protect Nazis." The hell we can't. If we can't protect their right to march, we can't protect ANTIFA's either.

I posted it the other day but the Lawrence, KS scene in Ride With the Devil perfectly encapsulates the Puritan ethos of Yankees. American culture is the Western equivalent of Sharia law. It isn't enough for people to live and let live. We all have to believe the same thing. Any deviation and your culture will be destroyed.

I was back in Cville a couple of weeks ago. There’s a new Chase Bank on the corner, right across from UVa. It has this massive neon sign that glows 24/7.
And the old bookstore, is now a Sheetz.
It’s awful.

We've traded delightful Southern accents for Twitter speak and Valley Girl idiocy.
We've traded traditional Southern food at Mom and Pop joints for Panera and Chipotle.
The same damn Yankees who call Southerners racist are the one's forcing blacks off their property due to massive development and property tax increases.
But in America, the superficial problem is bigger than the institutional one, so a piece of cloth or stone is a bigger deal than Yankee gentrification.
We've traded traditional Southern food at Mom and Pop joints for Panera and Chipotle.
The same damn Yankees who call Southerners racist are the one's forcing blacks off their property due to massive development and property tax increases.

The woman who died, died of a heart attack.
That's the one thing the media refused to ever acknowledge.

Started out as a statue protest. Then a bunch of looney white dudes with tiki torches showed up chanting about Jews not diving them. Then Antifa showed up and started fights.
