Yeah, I answered no to the vigilante justice question. I don't see a problem with answering yes for the others.

Exactly. A police force that is incentive driven would be complete bullshite.
Yeah, because quotas don't exist for the police and no one makes money off of having the world's biggest prison population.

Boom, folks. That's how it's done.

Gmorgan - crazier than hell, but impossible to dislike.

Funny. I couldn't imagine how privatized law & courts would work well and I don't agree with disbanding the military but I said yes to vigilante justice because I can see where this may become necessary at some point if the government dysfunction continues to increase.

That was one of the last group whereby I could conceptualize a scenario where I might agree, so I said yes.

Also, I read the terms "vigilante justice" broadly.

Well, lots of people in the 18th century couldn't imagine how cotton would get picked without the slaves but that's not a great reason to keep slavery around.

Awful analogy.

It's not dramatic but I guess I'm not going to convince you otherwise.

Not likely. But instead of that rhetoric, why don't you explain to me how it would work?

Yeah, a state doesn't threaten to kill people through taxation and states haven't killed more people in the 20th century than any other institution (not including wars) and states haven't sent thousands to die in useless wars. But you're going to respond with "Oh, now you're just being too dramatic!" and everyone else can step in and not make an argument and then you'll at least think you've got me.

Again, instead of that rhetoric, why don't you explain to me how it would work? I'm open to learning.

I can't. That was the point of my "rhetoric".

You're asking to predict how things will work in a future that may not ever exist with technology that I can't even dream of. Imagine telling an 18th century farmer that they won't need slaves to pick cotton in the future because we'll have mechanical robots that operate on ancient tree and dinosaur juice that go into the fields and do the work of thousands of slaves.
