We've seen this movie countless times. Will this species ever learn the lessons of the past?
We are in 1930's Germany writ large now.
1940's are coming.

Tim Allen called it in 2017:
Hollywood is like 30s Germany

It's freaking terrifying. And so unnecessary. And disheartening. I'm sitting here wondering if I taught my kids enough basic shite like making a fire when it's wet.

It’s never too late. I realized with the absence of sports, there are way more important things for me to be doing on the weekends.

Not wasting my time on people who want to lecture me and largely have disdain for myself and others.
They had a real opportunity with the lack of sports and totally fricked it up.

I’ve been seeing, and saying, this for awhile
The parallels to Hitler days is scary

There are one or two ingredients that don't bode well for the bad guys...
The vilified and hated jews who it became 'necessary' to cleanse from German society weren't the majority and they didn't own a couple hundred million firearms....

I fear our “majority” is too law abiding to challenge the Gestapo and would even lay down guns if threatened with 20 year prison sentence for keeping ins and ammo. That’s how they got guns in Venezuela, 20 years

Do you know how many boating accidents go unreported

I don't agree with every example of "Cancel Culture", but of course that's a made up word that is not clearly defined.
A famous person who violates the law, or common human decency, does not deserve to use a platform that they do not own to continue to promote themselves. If companies would like us to invest our time and our money utilizing their platform or buying their stock, they need to ensure that they are not providing a platform for criminality.
Many of these "influencers" work with the platform, conspire with if the platform looks the other way as they violate the public sphere, and they should be accountable. The social media companies lied under oath to Congress and stated that they only hosted content, they couldn't be held responsible for what's posted, but they've been outed many times for not only "partnering" with content creators, but manipulating their algorithms to promote some over others.
So, no, cancelling a "normal person" is a step too far. But asking for accountability from platforms that are fleecing the American public? Yeah, it's about time.
