Can someone explain why topics get locked?

Just replied to someone and it said this topic has now been locked? Surely the topic wasn’t that harsh for it to be censored, I’ve seen a lot worse topics before, it was about politics and I thought that’s what this forum is for? I’m I missing something?

I had a thread anchored today simply because it was "old news." It was the teaser for the DoT "crackdown" on CDL Mills. I mean, it could have easily been dovetailed into the thread discussing the actual topic since I had only posted it the night before, but they chose to anchor it instead.
I don't really care. Just pointing out that threads get anchored and locked for who knows why sometimes

Was unaware they’re mods in here lol. Maybe they should make a forum like they did for the Sec recruiting board “don’t troll or flame” even though this is a political board and I’m just expressing my first Amendment right. Maybe it should say “Hey this is a political board but you’re censored on certain topics and opinions”

Is the government not after all of us? But I know why it was censored, thought it should just be known. Did not know they’re were mods floating around here all day. That explains the dweebs with 60k+ posts, sounds like a depressing life honestly.
