I am just proud of you for not mentioning his inheritance in this thread, unless I missed it.
Trump received nearly $200 million in his inheritance in 2004, about a quarter of his 2005 net worth. Now it's been mentioned.

How will the tax returns show this?

I'd support any disclosure law with identical requirements for congress.
Well that's what I meant.

Nancy, let's take a good long look at your legislation and influence juxtaposed with your husband's "lucky land deals". Same for DiFi.
That's probably the most important reason, but that's just one of the reasons I think disclosure should be more detailed.

And beyond that, I want to see if they practice what they preach. If they vote against a tax cut, then I would hope that their taxes show that the didn't take advantage of the cut. And if they're going to criticize corporations, then they better not own any stock in those corporations. And if they're going to do the opposite, and institute some crony capitalism, they better not be directly benefiting from that.

Well his financial disclosures did kind of show this. They Trump Organization had reported $10 billion in revenue, but the following year when Trump had to report his estimated revenue, it was more around $700 million.

The Incredible Shrinking Trump Organization

For many years Crain's New York Business ranked the Trump Organization near the top of its list of the largest privately-held companies in New York, close to Bloomberg LP and Hearst.

Crain's got much better data on the Trump Organization’s revenues. Last year, the Trump Organization claimed $9.5 billion in sales. This year, public filings by President Trump suggest revenues less than a tenth that amount, $600 million to $700 million, according to Crain’s.

What is the shadiness? I’m failing to see how over reporting income is an advantage with taxes. Or is the claim the second number is under reported?

ETA: Oh ok, now I’ve read it. They allegedly told some reporter they made more than they did. It also discussed two different years. Were there any large holdings sold in one year vs the other? Not sure the relevance.

I interpreted this:

Trump is a "con man" in the sense that he's trying to con people regarding his "success." That may be just my interpretation because I don't think he's a "con man" in the sense that he is a criminal and more like Alex Jones is a con man selling his supplements and doesn't really believe the things he preaches.

So that's what I mean in regards to this question:
