For those who weren't here or are too young to remember, the democrats beat this back by saying republicans wanted to gamble their trust fund money away.

"Treasury's money".....it's our money. But Congress stole that money and has made it part of the general fund each year. So our SS money taken out each paycheck is not put into a fund or account that is ours. It is spent on the federal budget and sent to those that are retired. Those retired folk should be receiving money from their own accounts.
It is a ponzie scheme and we have people go to prison for doing the same thing. Yet our govt is free to do it.
