You had never heard of Mercantilism before today. Youre desperately trying to advocate for leftist economics.

Remember that word i used? Absolutist. No, you don't. Also, im' not advocating for mercantilism as an economic form. Again, diversity of thought and also diversity of economics is common sense. Why not use both? Did trump end capitalism in favor of mercantilism? YEs or no? You know the answer to this.

Using tariffs as threats are a hallmark of low IQ Mercantilism.
Do you know why Mercantilism lost power 150 years ago? Because our wealth is no longer static. Its an abhorrent economic view.

Also, stop saying i thought like you. I never have nor had. I have my own independent thought. I don't look to nerds on the poli-board for my viewpoints. This is what you are mad about. You thought i was "one of you", when you never bothered to figure out what my viewpoints were. Hell, you still don't know my viewpoints. You've assigned viewpoints to me becuase i disagree with you, but you never asked what my viewpoints are. Hell, i even said i was pro capitalist but not an absolutist and you're retard response was, "Nuh uh, you mercantilism". You're a joke, and not very bright.

Replaced as the primary economic system, absolutely.
Trump is unaware that wealth is created evidently. He believes government must accumulate it for you.

You are like talking to an elementary student in regards to economy. It’s sad.
He reads wiki and investopedia and thinks he is an expert. He then thinks he is educating people much much smarter than him. The dude is a tour bus guide. Not exactly Einstein.

He's threatened it, yes. Including the EU.

1) link?
2) Is that not a negotiation tactic?

Including the EU.
What about South Korea? Japan? Israel? It appears he's only using it where there is a trade imbalance or if a country is antagonistic to American trade.

Trump is trying to force the EU to buy our products or he will tariff them
Trump is a Demagogue. Leaders lead, Demagogues threaten.
His leadership style is right out of the 1700s. He is without a doubt a Demogogue.

Which makes it worse.
Trade deficits dont matter in the modern economy. Wealth isnt static, its created by individuals and businesses.
Not Government, Che.
Trump is living 200 years in the past.

A second piece is that he’s offering to extend or expand the tax cuts that he put in place in his first presidency, and those are disproportionately favoring rich people, directly and indirectly
This is such a stupid talking point. This dude got a Nobel? frick. Guess that has been politicized too. Whoever posted this as an expert should be ashamed of themselves.

I know you aren't aware of any of this.

In its bid for tech sovereignty, the EU has been aggressively targeting U.S. firms and industries with unfair protectionist policies.
quote:
The EU’s trade surplus with America is more than $200 billion. Yet it targets U.S. firms with a raft of discriminatory regulations, purchasing policies, and protectionist measures that both extract revenue from and reduce revenue to U.S. industries.
Left unchecked, Europe’s approach provides a protectionist model for other countries and regions to emulate, which would fragment the global digital economy into national and regional “walled gardens.”
U.S. officials have complained diplomatically instead of “going to the mattresses,” because the Washington policy community argues the transatlantic U.S.-EU partnership is critical for broader strategic interests. But that approach hasn’t worked.
Congress and the next administration should review of U.S. trade tools and develop new reciprocal measures to counter the EU’s digital protectionism and tech sovereignty.
Offensive measures could include updating Section 301 of the Trade Act to address digital trade, using ICT service reviews against European firms, imposing mirror taxes to offset the EU’s digital service taxes, and limiting U.S. data flows to the EU.
Defensive measures could include limiting federal procurement opportunities, scrutinizing critical exports, excluding EU firms from the U.S. defense industrial base, and retaliating against hypocritical standards for government access to data.
Ultimately, these measures should be in the service of putting in place a world-class EU-U.S. trade and technology agreement.
So Roger, what is your solution to making EU play fair?
