It’s all fear. I work contract at Ochsner main PICU from time to time.
They have 0 cases as of Saturday. But yea we are overrun.

Until we have more information, I am going to assume it is generally better for kids to get it now (particularly very mild cases) to build immunity for the future.
Now, that analysis might change if we see long-term effects from COVID. Frankly, I don't see what other option, though, than for everyone to get it and let the chips fall where they may. I mean, everyone is going to get it, with very few exceptions.

iruses don't thrive in the summer, I guess because of the vitamin D from more intense sunshine. So, why is covid thriving? Or is it?
The SWLA Region had more COVID cases and about 60% hospitalizations last summer than last winter. Who knows.

My friends kid has it (kindergarten), and another kid in his class has it. Both have cough and fever and quarantining for 14 days. They sent close contacts home as well.
Unfortunately it seems like this strand is transmitting through the kids this time (hopefully not), but hopefully with little to no symptoms.

The experience of the United Kingdom suggests delta is no more dangerous to young children than the original strain.

They weren't at capacity before...why would they be at capacity this time?
Because delta is far more contagious and it doesn’t take much to put a pediatric unit at capacity.

It’s almost all RSV in Delaware
I wonder if re-breathing through a cloth barrier might accelerate RSV???
