Sounds like a great place to live for our authoritarian friends. Safe, clean and orderly.

The discussion we are having has to do with how futile it is to wipe out cartels.
I asked YOU a specific question about the border and cartels. That was the entirety of my post. You dumb frick.

There’s such a thing as negative freedom dude. I generally agree you should never give up freedom for safety but that’s not a binary choice or an absolute. You have absolutely no idea how powerful our military is in relation to the rest of the world. We could absolutely and easily take out every cartel in South America and continue to do so in intervals that they pop up. Easily without a thought. It just takes the will and stomach to do so. Will this completely end all illegal drugs in the US? No of course not but these people are also facilitating the invasion of our country and human smuggling not to mention terrorizing our cities and if you choose to do this you’d have to fight them on both fronts, meaning domestic as well. Is any of this a good idea in totality? I don’t know it would take considerable for thought and consideration.

When i say the drug trade is demand driven, do you know what that means in economic terms?
If you do, you already realize how futile your ideas are.

So you’re just going to ignore the tons of other negative things the cartels are involved in and inflict on us some of which I mentioned in my post, and pretend it’s all about drugs? Cool stuff
But if you insist on limiting the conversation to drugs, yes of course just like anything else it is demand driven. Literally almost every market works this way. Kill and scatter all the cartels and never let them reform and you will drastically cut the supply in our country of illegal drugs, this is non disputable. What is worth talking about is the potential negative downstream consequences of such a decision which should always be a consideration before taking strong actions like this.
But like I said, it’s about a lot more than drugs. In fact I’d say that’s the least important thing the cartels are doing.

I'm in this country.
They are in theirs, they are not my problem.

This is a naive child’s view of the world.

unleashing delta force, the rangers, and JSOC intel on our enemies in Mexico while using the navy to launch air craft and tomahawks isn’t progressive or nation building.
Yes it is.
You have a utopian view of the world, I have a realistic view. People love drugs, will always love drugs and you cannot stop the supply.
I'm willing to put up with a few more overdose deaths and less drug trade violence. Sounds like a great tradeoff.

So just a curiosity, and I’m asking seriously, what is the purpose of things like delta force and JSOC if it’s not to stop people facilitating human trafficking, sex slaves, and un quantifiable suffering inside our own country? Justice for Laken. Kill them all.

to fight wars of aggression, not stop black market services.
Black market services exist because of overregulation. Our underground economy just in this country is over 2 trillion a year.
Your government creates the black market.

Ok but you do know this really isn’t the expressed purpose of JSOC and entities like delta force? Much less so the seals as they’re traditionally more wrapped up in what you might file under “wars of aggression.” So your answer is they essentially serve no practical purpose and should be just rolled back into the regular army.

Not at all.
Is your answer "if they cant stop drug dealers in Mexico, they dont have a purpose?" Because thats exactly what youre implying.

You only fix this by curbing the demand

I don’t know why you keep intentionally straw manning my position. I don’t know how many times I have to repeat the drug component of this is literally the least of my worries or concerns.
They can. Easily. I know this because I was part of JSOC doing the HUMINT component of target packages for 18 months, 13 of which was spent at FOB Blessing in Afghanistan near the Pakistan border. It would be comically easy to end them all if we had the will to do it.

Then why the frick do you want us invading Mexico to fight these Cartels, Neocon?

No one is disputing this. What you dont understand is the next
"cartel" will pop right up.
Your solutions do nothing except spend money.
