Short term and long term is how they try to justify it. In the very short term they want oil to fight inflation, but in the long term they want to discourage it. The problem with their plan is that they are the only actors on the stage stupid enough to go along with that plan.

I would love to see the supply demand chart with inelastic line in this

It would be so jacked up that no real economist could make sense of it without lying. I bet you could not even get 100 economist, financiers, oil producers to even agree where equilibrium is at.

There is no feasible, sustainable, current alternative to fossil fuels.

I'm 100% on board for continued research into alternatives and their development, but there's nothing that indicates that we're within a century away from feasibly and economically phasing out fossil fuels.

Enter the narrative that fossil fuels are causing the climate to change. You know, the same climate that has been changing for 4.2 billion years.
