OK, let's take your idea to it's logical conclusion.

Your logical conclusion isn't logical. Your example claims that you must be entertained by music. There are many case studies that show people have lived fruitful and productive lives without Rainy Day Women #12 & 35. You likewise claim that if you don't spend it on (A) you'd spend it on (B), again that isn't a logical conclusion. Being entertained by music and coffee aren't necessities of life.

However, if you choose to indulge yourself in their product(s), you can't complain when a politician that received funds from these people/corporations pass legislation that you oppose. You are indirectly contributing to and supporting those policies.

I'm not condemning your action nor condoning them, I'm simply saying I don't understand them.

It's very simple. If I boycott products, services that have left leaning connections and there are no non-left wing alternatives then I'll be missing out on tons of stuff I like.

Here is a good example. 'My City is Gone' by The Pretenders. Chrissy Hind and the Pretenders and their staff are all left wing liberals. They get money for royalties of the song. From Rush Limbaugh. It's his theme song.

Yeah, perhaps, but you're allowing your current "vices" to control your life rather than exploring your life outside the current scope. That may be construed as a closed minded approach to life.

On a similar side note, many years ago, Rush talked about Chrissie Hynde & The Pretenders dislike for his use of the song. They wanted to disallow him from using the song totally; no matter what he agreed to pay. They lost the fight in a fair use policy or something like it - I'm uncertain of the term.

Rush even went as far as saying its continued usage may be two fold - it's more synonymous with his show than it is with The Pretenders and he draws pleasure knowing how much ire it draws from them.

Espresso is not a vice. It's a gift from the Gods.

That's not quite the story. Chrissie Hynde's manager found out Rush was using the song and flipped out since he's a big left winger. He sent a message to Rush telling him that Chrissie wanted him to immediately stop using the song.

Rush called Chrissie and told her about royalty payments. Chrissie said "I never said you couldn't use the song. I don't GOF." So, it was actually Chrissie's people who were objecting.

I won't debate either point, since as I stated earlier, I'm neither condemning nor condoning your act. I will however say, that's not the story I remember Rush telling. Then again, memory is like the old parlor game of gossip - and shifts a little with each tell.
