The only reason the market took a hit after the tariff announcement is because fund managers are scrambling to jump out of foreign steel and aluminum holdings.

As soon as they know who is picking up the slack and getting awarded contracts domestically, they will jump back in.

The other reason for the drastic drop is because of the “Retard Panic Factor”.

Average Joe Investor sees a 350 point drop and starts shitting himself trying to get out, it seems lately.

And smart managers are arbitraging the hell out of it eating up the Average Joe losses.

I will probably close the day about $20K down in one of my trading accounts thanks to his announcement. Not really happy about that.

NO, you shut up, bitch!

I voted for Trump but this tariff bullshite is so stupid it's not even debatable.

No one who considers himself to be a market conservative would even begin to support this asinine idea.

Not even the most liberal Democrats would propose a tariff on the goods that we use in our manufacturing economy.

Dumb gun control comments and now dumb tariffs likely to get us in a trade war.

Heard a comment from a Republican representative who was at Trumps gun control unleashing. They were dumbfounded at his lack of knowledge on the subject.

Evidently he's just throwing out emotional appeals.

You must be mistaken. Trump claims to have one of history's greatest memories and considers himself a genius. A man who considers himself this bigly couldn't possibly be making statements about which he lacks knowledge.

I'm more of a right leaning Libertarian and I figured that Trump would do some things that I really disliked. Tariffs and new gun control laws would be some of those things.

I liked his Supreme Court choice, cutting regulations and taxes. The latter needed to include a spending reduction which they didn't do.

Probably the most worrisome about his presidency so far is that he seems just as clueless as he was when campaigning.

Whoever has his ear last really does have a lot of power

That’s absurd.

Trump campaigned on this. Why is it a surprise suddenly?

He said he was going to boost American steel over and over, and said many times that foreign steel, especially Chinese steel, sucks and American manufacturing should be buying better US steel.

How did you think he was going to get American manufacturing to buy American steel?

How did you think we were going to reduce/eliminate trade deficits with other countries?

Anyone with a brain understood this is how you make that happen. ie. Tariffs

WTF do you think an America-First Protectionist Populist agenda means?

The American steel and aluminum companies just got a14% reduction in corporate taxes and elimination of troves of stifling regulations for a goddamn reason. They need the work. These tariffs give them that opportunity.

The tax reduction and elimination of burdensome regulations should help offset production costs and help make the consumer purchase costs competitive with pre-tariff foreign prices.

This is a fairytale idea

You are putting all of the trust in the other guy that once he corners the industry that he won't jack up the prices on everyone. Then you'll be saying why didn't we stop this?

This is the threshold we are approaching right now.

I don't think he takes much input, which is the most problematic part of his presidency.

Trump is basically what Dems have been asking for in a Republican Candidate, which is why I never take their "advice" seriously.

I figured he would be easily swayed and have very fluid positions. He's never really been a conservative.
