because thats the sex. sex is what the anthropologists were determining. They weren't determining gender from pelvic bones.
sex = male/female
gender = masculine/feminine
somehow its just a social construct but also sex/gender are so heavily conflated and now you're a bigot.

No. Sex = male/female and gender = male/female.
Masculine/feminine are characteristics and choices that a person goes through. A relatively effeminate 12-year old boy can grow into a manly man. 10-year old "tomboys" often grow into very feminine adult women.
This whole "construct" thing are symptoms of a mental disorder NOT scientifically based on any sort of empirical, testable, repeatable "science".
