Clearly the whole "if we ignore them. They'll go away" mindset isn't working. Richard Spencer has already scheduled his next campus visit at UF. Which should be pretty comical given how his last SEC school rally/speech went,

That has been the progression since the campaign. Now you have dumbass people on the right denouncing themselves to make the libs accept them.
They wonder why it took Trump to beat them. It's going to take a lot of "frick you" attitude going forward.

Have we tried it?
And again, and I cannot stress this enough, it is absolutely not the presidents job to silence or prevent unpopular speech.

I think we definitely tried during the late 90s-early 00s. But sites like stormfront clearly show that people stayed dormant during those times and then I'm the late 2000 we saw more groups pop up.
Fwiw, I think the "don't pay attention to these people" mindset is a flawed way of dealing with situations like this. I'm not saying that I have a perfect solution to hate groups. But leaving them alone doesn't seem like a solid plan imho.

Nonviolent hate speech is protected in this country.
What's your solution?
As long as they get the proper permits, remain peacefully assembled, and follow the proper legal channels they can say whatever the frick they want as far as I'm concerned.

I would think that no matter what you call people who believe in white power they probably vote and vote republican.
Things like what happened in Charlottesville will cause more people in the left, African Americans, and different religions to vote democrat.
Even though white hate groups have nothing to do with the Republican Party it will still hurt them.

He cannot let them be the visible and vocal leaders of the right.
They may be a minority of the People, but they are loud and controversial and Trump doesn T need them.
They risk provoking a powerful backlash and changing the momentum the right has gained

You think there's a chance neo-Nazis and reformed KKK members will become leaders of the right and the only thing stopping reasonable people from alining under these psychos is Trump denouncing them by name in a press conference?
Did I misunderstand you?

He better show leadership. Obama's lack of action empowered leftist activist groups, what makes you think it wouldn't happen again?

I'll have to disagree. It wasn't Obama's lack of leadership. Obama pandered to and specifically emboldened the left.
Trump isn't inviting these people to the white house or acknowledging and supporting their cause or saying if he had a son he'd be persecuted, etc....
Trump did say he condemns all violence and all hate and that all people should unify together against violence and hate. What else did he need to say?

Did Obama's refusal to attack BLM and Antifa tar his legacy?
Hell he actually invited them to the White House.
Failed again.
That was the first I heard of them.

OP is spot on. This is exactly what the Liberal Trash polluting this country wants.
Average Americans who have nothing to do with the fringe white supremacist groups do not react well to being called racists simply due to the color of their skin. And white males do not react well to being called sexual predators simply because of their gender and skin color.
The high level of hatred in this country lies solely at the feet of the Left in America. They have divided this country in their craven lust for power and will continue to do so unless they are challenged at every turn.
The only way to respond to their violent, rabid attack dogs in ANTIFA is to match their violence. It's all they understand.
