People leaving big cities is bad news for dems, imo, because cities are where people have the greatest exposure to the democratic party, and it is where recruitment happens.

Let's start a national program that relocates inner city populations to other parts of the country and make it so they can section 8 a home that rents for 6k per month.

When I look for property in the next few years it will be in the country. you can always drive to the city for entertainment, then GTFO to peace and quiet country life

But many cities are on a strong growth trajectory. The cities losing population are cities that have been losing it for decades (Detroit, Baltimore, even Chicago peaked a long time ago).

Libs gonna lib.

They will escape the shithole they helped create by voting for Dems, then proceed to push for Dems and Dem policy in the nice place they escaped to.

The second chart in your link shows this isn't Americans "fleeing big cities," it's Americans moving South and West.

Those cities have been losing people forever. Check Atlanta. It's going the opposite way.

Yeah I think this is mostly people from cities in the midwest/northeast leaving for cities in Texas, Florida, Colorado etc

. . . and while we're at it, let's force our previously good school districts to lower standards to appease crappy students and politicians

I'm willing to guess places with lower property taxes.
There is also a geographic shift between regions going on (to warmer states). This is fundamentally different than white flight were that was a shift within a region.

One of the more interesting dynamics we will see play out over next couple of decades is urbanization vs. flight to suburbs. There are competing theories about which wins out as the preferred locale for the middle-upper class with different technological/economic developments.
