This is false. You can root rake it, drag and over seed

Yeah if you have that fancy stuff. It works for less densely populated area but just driving the dozer around fricks everything up. The pasture is getting fricked up regardless and needs time to recover which means isolating from the herd and thats before the pigs come root around and screw it up more.

It’s probably worth noting that the area we’re in is basically a rock farm. We’re at the very top of a ridge and it’s basically rock with a little dirt mixed in. Yanking out the cedar destroys the ground and it’s done for a while before it can recover. Then we get back to that no water thing to make things grow.

we put a priority on keeping the family tradition alive. My wife is a 5th generation rancher on the land so we take it seriously. With that said, I’m no ranch hand. I’m a coonass who married into a ranching family and has adopted the traditions and I do what I can which is mostly fence repair, spot feeding when I’m there, fixing the equipment and shooting pigs.

For more than half a decade, the U.S. cattle industry has been forced into survival mode. Severe droughts, soaring input costs, and reduced incomes have led many ranchers to cull their herds, making it nearly impossible to restore beef numbers.

My family sold out in 2022, although the land was paid off well before then. We just cut and bale hay to sell now…don’t have to worry about cows messing with food plots and what not now, though.

Interesting, because this is what I am looking to do in a couple of years when I retire. I want to build a barndominium and hustle a few cows, chickens for the eggs, a couple of pigs, and grow some produce. Some for our own consumption and then auction/sell the rest. Good luck and hope you enjoy your new home.

No. Red meat IS all that great. It's essentially health food

Agreed. Our bodies have been conditioned to eat red meat since the beginning of humanity.
What our bodies aren't conditioned for is all the preservatives and bullshite additives.

Yep. I switched to venison. Yes I spent a metric f**k load of money on deer hunting so it is probably not any cheaper, but I am going to spend that money regardless of the price of meat.
