Anywhere West or South of Austin is effectively Mexico.

Guns are simply the most convenient tool to do so. Take away guns, these psychopaths will just use a vehicle to mow down people where they gather in large numbers, or dirty bombs out of homemade items. Couple that with the fact the Cartel has been running almost anything in this country it wants to for 50 years and all you do is setup another money making Avenue for the guys you don’t want brokering arms.
Crazy people have always done crazy shite. We will never stop everyone from acts like these. There will always be Unabombers, Derrick Todd Lee’s, and Tsarnev brothers. But many leave “footprints”, especially in the social media arena (which is also an issue) that should be monitored more by the platforms vs other areas of concerns these programmers seem to monitor.

Abilene says hello...but really, the Southern Border of Texas is effectively roughly from Lubbock through about Round Rock over to the Houston burbs.

Point out where I mentioned or said we should "let" deadly attacks continue. Or people are inherent with a "nature" to create deadly attacks. Or where I ID'ed with any camp of killing rather than saving. Of course you can't so why even try. It has been my experience that almost every post beginning with "SO" was made by someone with a ridiculous agenda or by a hopeless dumass. I'm leaning to the latter here since nothing in either of your posts supports or suggests anything except Worry and I don't know and a false premise. One leads to more trauma and the others no place. Running in circles worrying and blithering about I don't know what to do is not an answer.

This whole thread was asking for an answer. Literally the whole point was if current policies aren’t working and the ones being pushed by gun control advocates also won’t work, what’s the answer? Your answer is that it’s gonna happen no matter what we do. I don’t think that’s acceptable.

I think my comments went right over your head. I’m just agreeing there is no solution. Humanity can’t change its violent nature.

And for the record, saying it’s “inevitable” and “part of life” about something controlled by humans and their emotions is effectively saying it’s a part of some human’s nature.

No I got what you were saying in principle. I just still feel like there has to be some policy or something out there that could lessen it.

There is the tactical solution that I referenced earlier and the ultimate strategic solution...
"In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. 5Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, 6And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: 9And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. 10And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
11I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: 12Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire " Matthew 3.
How many of you are going to skip church this morning?

Ok . Good luck with that. Legislate against violence . That should work. Let me now how that goes Pollyanna.
Posted on 8/4/19 at 3:26 am to Terrific Tales
Do you have a reading comp issue? I offered no answer. Since I don't have one. So kindly quit speaking for me since you obviously can't and are failing miserably at attempting to do so. Your solutions seem to be: running in circles worrying? Or maybe virtue signaling. One is self defeating and the other leads to more, not less of the problem.
Posted on 8/4/19 at 3:28 am to Lsupimp
That’s not what I said. Like I said I don’t know what the helpful thing to do would be, I just think there has to be something. I’m not willing to concede that the rest of my life will be spent with stuff like this happening all the time, at least not yet.
Posted on 8/4/19 at 3:29 am to Terrific Tales
There is a solution.

No, you said it was inevitable, part of life, and that gun violence doesn’t exist. Did you not? I disagree.
Posted on 8/4/19 at 3:31 am to Terrific Tales
You must be very young. Murder didn’t start on the day you were born and it won’t end because it troubles you . It’s part of our human nature.
There really is no solution to human evil. In a healthy society you just get far less of it. America is not a healthy society.

Right but why have these types of shootings increased drastically in recent years? I get that we are never going to stop shootings. That isn’t what I’m worried about. But how do we stop the trajectory of the high death count mass shootings in the last 5-10 years?
Posted on 8/4/19 at 3:38 am to Terrific Tales
We can’t and we won’t. We are a profoundly SICK culture that has embraced nihilism and narcissism and we are spawning hundreds of these same homicidal young freaks. It will only increase from here with the way the Internet and the popular culture cultivates this kind of sad, lonely criminally pathological psychology.

You are looking for a policy solution to a problem of good and evil.
The second amendment is the closest thing man has ever come up with for that. Too many disregard it. That is how you stop high death counts... Make everyone an instant first responder.
The other solution is a society where everyone looks at the mote in their own eye before the beam in their neighbor's...and that level of self awareness and examination on the part of me won't happen this side of heaven.
