So you don't concede. Why bring up rape and incest, then? Why talk about the edge cases when the vast, vast majority of abortions are performed out of convenience?
Bingo.

why talk about late-term abortion at all then? it's all the rage with conservatives, but it would be classified as an "edge issue" according to you.

Define "late-term."

Let me put any doubt to rest on where I stand when it comes to abortion. The only time it’s acceptable is when the life of the mother is in danger. Period. A woman should not be given a death sentence for being pregnant.
As for rape and incest, I’m truly sorry for the victim. And I hope she gets all help available. But it’s not the baby’s fault. You can’t punish an innocent child for the crime of someone else. And killing that unborn child will not serve justice to anyone. Once the child is born, they can be put up for adoption. There are thousands of desperate couples wanting to adopt babies and giving them a loving home.

How anyone can claim they have the right to life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness while denying that same right to others?
Conversely, by you telling a woman she can't have an abortion, aren't you restricting her pursuit of happiness?

I have a lot of energy on this subject having lived it...
D1 and D2, were their mother's and my fourth and fifth pregnancies...
pregnancy 1 was a miscarriage
pregnancy 2 was a tragedy...non-life compatible (not going to put the gory details here-neural tube defect) induced at 32 weeks when we found out...going further along would have endangered her mother...she lived for 17 minutes...
you want to know pain...place the casket with your child in the family grave...
pregnancy 3 was worse than 2 (multiple neural tube defects)...and would have endangered her mother even more...
D1 and D2, we were fortunate enough to get into a study where an experimental pre-natal vitamin supplement with a lot of folic acid was used...no problems with either pregnancy...
the whole abortion issue is much more grey than black or white...and shite does happen in pregnancy, not every pregnancy will produce a perfect child...or even a life compatible one...
this is a choice that needs to be left to the individual parents...

I can't disagree with your more.

IMO emergency contraception should be standard in such situations

A person’s right to happiness does not extend to them being able to deny the right to life of someone else. What if I claimed my right to happiness said I could murder you and your family. Since that makes me “happy”, do I have the right to deny you the right to life? Absolutely not. Again, I can’t claim a God given right while on the other hand denying that same right to others.

Yeah that's not "all the rage" with conservatives, sorry. Swing and a miss. Nice deflection attempt.
As distasteful as it is to me, I'm willing to cede ground in the abortion debate in cases of imminent existential peril to the mother, or rape/incest.
The rest of the abortions? Hell no.

Butch,
That was very well written and I have nothing but empathy for what you have been through.

So:
1.) It's the baby's fault
2.) You can execute a child for someone else's crimes
3.) That child's death serves justice
Which of those three are you down with?

what if the child is NOT life compatible?

Once again I’ll ask for anything to support your position on this matter.

It's just something we are never going to agree on.
On a personal level I can't see my wife and I ever making that decision, but I also don't feel like it's our decision to make it for other people.

We're definitely at an impasse there. When it comes to life/death of an innocent, damn straight Imma make as much noise as I can to protect that life.
