Alabama and Louisiana wouldn't turn out so hot but that median income number is way off. It's about double that.
That number probably includes all the welfare deadbeats.
To the people saying Alabama would crumble, are you taking into account all the deadbeats who will leave to go to the states that still had welfare?
Kinda like all the people who left New Orleans and went to Houston after Katrina.

Did you seriously compare Trump to Stalin

There have been lots of threads like this on this board. Notice that despite it being a pipe dream, it still gets these leftists all up in a tizzy. A conservative utopia with low taxes, small government, citizens that are responsible for themselves would be a great place to live.
Also notice that when the idea of a progressive utopia comes up like Calexit, we cheer it on. Crazy taxes and policies in California. We cheer them on.
The elephant in the room is that middle class self sufficient taxpayers in this country are the well beaten work horse that never bucks, always trudges forward, despite the load getting heavier and heavier every day. There aren’t enough of the uber rich, pro athletes, academics, hollywood people to pay for all the social policies that they demand. They need middle class to keep working hard, paying taxes, starting small businesses, not committing crime, building roads, houses, etc to maintain their utopia.
A place for these people to escape to would be a threat to the left.

Depends on my situation. I own a business that can be run in Idaho just as well as in Alabama. If I had small kids, I would do it. I dont living around low IQ ghetto trash like the BamaAtls and Brian_Wilsons of the world. Of course if there were a state like this...it would become wildly popular and eventually idiots like the people trashing this idea would move in and try to vote out the policies that made it a great place to live.
Do you currently live near a lot of poor, low IQ people in Alabama?
Most people can't just move their business anywhere...most people don't own a business...nor can they just go get a job somewhere else, especially in the current economy where industries seem to be very regional (O&G, Tech, etc.).
These revolt threads never make sense considering most people are currently living very comfortable lives.

The people who start are living pretty good lives, which is the funny part.
what is also comical is this notion that a revolt would work in their favor. It probably wouldn't. A revolt would likely be lead by those that don't have stuff taking stuff from those that do. So the middle class older white men that want a revolt to take things away from the poor woudl actually see the poor coming to take their shite.

One of these groups is well armed. The other isn't.
Since we're talking hypotheticals and all.

Rush went on today about how some democrat is really a communist.
Children and TD posters buy that line of false propaganda.

The state is responsible for quite a few things. They have a pretty prominent role in infrastructure, healthcare and education. Sure cities have a role in this too, but the state throws its weight around with regards to funding, standards, programs, etc.
States, like schools, are pretty much only as good as those that populate them.
Demographic norm Alabama and you instantly have a state that looks like most others in terms of all measurables.
The reality is, EVERYONE knows this. They just pretend not to.

You're right, my bad.
At least Stalin was an ideologue. Trump is merely a demagogue, with no real ideology.
Both types are dangerous to a representative form of government, however.
