This is why the $100K minimum was needed but we should go further and truly only accept the top 1% of talent coming in for any field.
I've been working for 40 years - and have developed a unique set of skills. Some of my effort flies on Dragon and is on the Space Station... but AI could replace me now -- after only the past 3 years of advances. It should replace every one of those 'entry-level' from India and China.

so as I expected, Corporations are (ab)using H1Bs to fill entry level roles? They're not hiring "exceptional talent" currently unavailable from native sources?

Yep. Refer to the most recent topic I just started for more info on how it works

My problem with this discussion is everyone wants to yell at Trump.
Because he's unilaterally trying to run things. Of course he's going to get the blame.

The O-1 visa is for individuals with extraordinary ability, while the H-1B is for professionals in specialty occupations with a bachelor's degree

Weird this post is coming from TPUSA, who blindly supports all things MAGA right?
Hopefully Andrew can get Trump to listen to his as Charlie Kirk did. TPUSA really has the pulse of the younger generations.

I've dealt with a lot of foreigners and foreign born before I retired. These were all cream of the crop talent. Some lived in the US and I assume of these were on H1B visas. However, I know the main driver behind these masses of visas is cheaper labor. That's always been the driver, from slavery, to indentured servitude, to child labor, to textile manufacturing moving from New England to the Southeast to overseas, to NAFTA and China, to Mexican roofers and home builders, etc, etc, etc.
The reason I voted for Perot and Trump was to have a strong manufacturing industry in this country.

The H1B defenders act like every single Indian on H1B or other work visas here in the US is an Einsten IQ level super genius rocket science or brain surgeon
That's how you know none of them have ever worked in a tech or tech adjacent role
I felt this way until I got into a PM role with a mid-sized tech company. 95% of the Indians I worked with were complete morons.

$100k isn’t enough. If this is top talent, companies will pay $500k. Hell, meta is throwing out billion dollar offers to these top engineers. If not, they are just buying cheap labor.

So all of this H1B melt is over entry level jobs?
What this is really about is that young people are lazy and our public education system is trash. Love seeing idiots get college degrees and then end up bagging groceries because they got scammed in to getting some worthless degree. Warms my heart.
Companies will continue to hire those who are the most qualified. Sorry liberals, just because you went to college doesn’t mean you’re entitled to a job.

Yeah. Kids graduating with high GPAs in computer science from elite learning institutions in the U.S. are definitely lazy.
These people are intelligent hard workers that are getting shut out of the job market.

This is the most boomercon laden slop ive ever read
The issue is that new college grads with STEM degrees are unable to get entry level jobs in their fields or even adjacent to their fields because H1Bs are taking them instead
These are completely qualified American college grads. I've interviewed plenty. We don't need H1Bs for entry level roles like junior DevOps engineer or data analyst.
And you wonder why Trumps approval among voters under 35 is dropping like a rock
You are just another person who automatically assumes every Indian H1B is a super smart rocket scientist high IQ genius and every US STEM grad is a lazy incompetent leftist moron who just wants to smoke weed and play video games all day

Abusing and violating the H1B visa system laws is not free market
You have no idea how the H1B kickback scam with shell companies and green card managers even works
Posted on 11/13/25 at 10:49 am to goldennugget
It is not the governments role to find you a job or tell companies what to do. I’m sure you can find some socialist paradise you’d rather live in if a free and open market upsets you.
Posted on 11/13/25 at 10:51 am to BarnHater
A free market has to adhere to laws
Illegal shell companies violating H1B laws is not free market

It’s not the free market. It’s a corporate conspiracy.
We’re sacrificing American workers so these companies can line their pockets even more.

Of course not
And I predict a lot of these tech firms will live to regret some of their hiring practices
If you don't hire entry and junior level people then you won't have much of a work force in the future
