You are playing meaningless semantic games.

One could legitimately argue (as many HAVE done) that the "wall" sections are not "wall" at all, but rather a very tall fence. I am not interested in that argument. Call it a wall or call it a fence. I do not care. It IS larger and perhaps more difficult to cross than its predecessor structure, which would seem to be be more-important issue than "What will we call this thing?"

At this rate the wall should be done in about 100 yrs.
Two miles of actual extension in two years (if this is accurate), means completion in two millennia.

If you buy the argument that we have extended existing structures by 36 miles in two years ... yeah, about a century.

Dude, it is YOUR original post that makes the "38 mile" claim, with no link and no supporting data.

Google search of "border patrol 38 mile" returns nothing supporting your claim.

An article from last Spring DOES quote Customs and Border Protection Acting Deputy Commissioner Ronald D. Vitiello, discussing about 40 miles of "new construction."
quote:

Although most of the new barrier will replace old or ineffective fencing, Vitiello said, “I would say that it’s all new because there’s a different design going in. It’s replacing stuff that is unsuitable, the dilapidated wall, this old landing mat fence. It doesn’t serve our needs anymore.”

No, I am not, as demonstrated just above with 9th life saying "prototype wall not used"...

So, define wall... that is the important part... You do realize that the majority of "fence" along the border is barb wire fence, right? So, if wall is built to replace that kind of fence, is it considered "new wall" or not?

It really is that simple...

In New Mexico, they replaced a fairly-normal fence with this thing. Is it a wall or a fence? I would call it a fence, but (again) that is just semantics. It certainly looks more effective than barbed wire.

So, who got the contract to build the wall? If it’s actually underway, shouldn’t this info be available?

And how much of this has been constructed?

Good morning STD.

Yes, we had this thread last week. The only evidence anyone could locate of ANY construction that extended the length of the existing structures was the two miles in New Mexico. Everything else (all other "new construction") was replacement of existing structures. Why? Because the Omnibus Spending Bill included this mandate.

Now, if you have been able to find anything more than all the posters in that other thread, please do share a link.

Simply typing "38 miles" yet again does nothing to establish your point, Goebbels.

(again) that is just semantics.

So, if there are 38 miles of that, as depicted in your picture above, you would not count it as 38 miles of wall?

I think you are being a bit dishonest in your assessment of what is a wall and what is a fence...

im not playing semantics.

I fail to see how you can say trumps wall is being built, when the prototypes for Trumps wall are not being used and the funding bill explicitly states they cant be used. replacing existing barricades isn't what got yourselves into a tizzy chanting for, and you know it.

Where did I say anything of the sort? I am waiting on you to stake your claim AND lock down your definitions...

Unfortunately your dumb arse refuses to give credit for wall, unless it is "Trump's prototypes" that are being built...

replacing existing barricades

A barb wire fence is NOT a barricade, so yeah, replacing it with something more substantial is definitely building more wall or at least making it more substantial...

The vast majority of these “miles“ are PROBABLY “wall“ replacing existing fencing or other structures.

If we go from this:

to THIS:

In spots where there's an existing fence, as we wait for The Wall to be built, I'm going to chalk that up as a win for now.
