It’s disingenuous when people talk about the .02% rate for flu and say Covid has a rate of 2%.
The .02% for flu is calculated by assuming millions of cases. The 2% for Covid is the straight up deaths per positive test rate. If we assumed the millions of Covid cases there could very well be the rate would be much much lower.

OP says confirmed cases. But I agree.

That's 2.8% but I'll give you 2% since people get it and don't get tested.
2% is a lot though. That would be 20x what influenza is. If 25% of America got infected this year then it would mean 1,650,000 deaths.
How would you feel if you had a family of 5 and somebody said that there was a 10% chance that a person in your family would die if you did x? Would you still do x?

No. You’re going to have to give me more. I’m the one who compromised here.

It won’t matter what you say. They don’t understand scientific models or percentages.
If the same number of people who got the flu last year get COVID-19, at 2% Mortality rate that’s 380,000 US deaths from the virus in one year. These trash don’t care. They have to get back to work bc they have little money and they’re mad. They should be mad at themselves bc they’re failures in life but that’s a whole other debate. Stay above the fray.

Irrelevant and not accurate.

Multiply by 10 for more accurate number of actual cases.

Big enough for what, exactly? Shutting down the whole country and destroying the economy?
No.
Do you think it is?

working class people losing their jobs due to something out of their control is just ridiculous!! They are so stupid!! Why can’t they just buy more money?!?!

It's absolutely relevant. It is why people are doing what they're doing.

Pretty obvious we have more than our share of window lickers.
Thing that pisses me off the most is this dumb mfers are making me agree with Juice Terry about something.

The death wave has a lag behind the confirmed cases rate, possibly 14-21 days as I understand it. That's why Trump said to brace yourself.
It's not gonna get grim because America is gonna get the shivers and eats chicken soup for a couple of weeks. He specifically mentions death at every presser.
CV-19 fricks up lungs.

quote:While the true mortality rate is like more like half (1% to 1.5%), based on the figures in the OP it would technically be 29ish times more deadly than the flu, since he rounded 2.86% down the 2%.
So only 20 times worse than muh flu?
Lol

The only math you understand is how to bill on 6 minute increments. There’s a reason you became a lawyer, and it’s not because you were good at cyphering.
