Very very often I have read and/or heard people say that Devery Henderson has the most dropped passes in the NFL. After hearing it so much, you start to believe something like that. So I asked myself, is this a stat that the NFL or some reputable news source keeps track of? The answer is clearly no. After a quick Google, here is the only list of dropped passes stats that I could find: Dropped Passes

From what prevalent opinion of Henderson is on this website, many of you will be surprised with what you find.

Devery is NOT the leader in dropped passes. It's a tie between Braylon Edwards and Dallas Clark with 12 each. Devery has 10, which is the same amount as T.O. Which is one more than Randy Moss and two more than Steve Smith.

My point is that if anybody says that Devery has the most dropped balls in the NFL, they don't know twhat they are talking about. Furthermore, the stat can be misleading in that somebody who is universally considered to be a "good hands" guy (Randy Moss) only has one less drop than Devery.

That's my $.02.

You should do a ratio of dropped passes to thrown to, or dropped passes to catches, or dropped passes to touchdown receptions

and Devery seems to drop the ball at the most important times in the game in key situations. Those other guys may drop a few but they are still clutch.

Of course you should. And of the ones he mentioned, Devery gets thrown the ball a LOT less.

So I went ahead and used your list of dropped passes. If you look at drops per catch Devery is by far the leader with 0.5 drops/catch since he had 10 drops and only 20 catches last season. The next worst was Brandon Jacobs who had 23 catches and 8 drops (this is a RB we're talking about). The 2nd place WR? Anthony Gonzalez (a rookie) who had 7 drops with only 37 catches.

I guess that I got off on a rant from my original rant. My original point was that it's a BS stat anyway. I could only find one link keeping the stat and everybody looks pretty close anyway. Besides, what constitutes a "dropped ball"? If a reciever makes great effort to get to a ball that might have been uncatchable then drops it anyway, is that really a dropped ball?

Thanks for the crucifiction from all of you rantards and douches. As I said in my original post, you don't know what you are talking about.

It's the off-season and I'm bored. Lighten up people.

Really drake,

I went back and looked at some of your posts and couldn't find one insightful comment posted. Just a bunch of drive-by posts. Come strong if you're going to come at me son.

Exactly on both counts.

Just like Ricky Williams or Aaron Brooks in a Saints uniform. They didn't necessarily lead the league in fumbles, it was just that they fumbled at the worst possible time in a game.

If the ball hits his hands and he doesn't make the reception, it's a dropped ball. Might be a great effort, difficult catch, would have been a great play, whatever. Dropped ball none the less.

As stated above, Devry only had a small percentage of catches as compared to Moss and TO and was right up there with the drops. He has dropped balls his whole life starting in high school. he will always continue to drop balls from here on out. He needs to catch the "big" one when we need it!
