Did we lose mack and Phillips because of him leaving? Or any others? Or did any players leave for the NFL because of Chavis jumping ship?

Find a way to get Clancy and Bebe and it will be long forgotten before we know it.

None, they weren't commits, but it took us out of the running for a few, but I think it was because of where it put Haley, not Chavis. Chavis ain't a guy that players are going to have a big attachment to, he's just not a recruiter with a lot of charisma..

Zero. There is no guarantee either of those was coming to LSU.

Mack was never coming because of Chavis. Phillips sounded like he was locked in on UT...regardless of what he was saying over the past few weeks.

How many top recruits ever came to LSU because of Chavis? He may have helped us to get on a Top 3 list but I can't recall him closing an elite kid on his own.

It's hard to say with the Jr's. Based on the past several years, it would be hard to predict that any were staying. The "stay in school" advice from the NFL wouldn't change.

We lost a chance to finish 2nd with Mack if Haley leaves

Without Chavis/Haley we would never get a last minute visit and a ton of buzz that Mack LOVED it at LSU and that he was coming here only to have a last second change of heart and we come oh so close to getting him but coming second

Damn guys, were really hurting without that

Chill. Whoever the new DC is will bring a couple of his recruits and we won't have 3rd and Chablis.

If players come to play just because of 1 coach then they were never really on board and may be really disappointed if they don't look at the School as a whole. Education, All coaches, All players, Atmosphere(Death Valley), and of course the parties and women.

Peace...

Think about it like this. What if the other school had all similar things except the position coach or DC. That could have been the one thing that put one school over the other.

Let's face it, all elite schools have the atmosphere. Most guys take the same damn majors. These elite schools also have players this guy (speaking in general) has connected with. You will find parties and women on every campus. So then it comes down to the coaches. The only true separation for these guys.

So a guy that you have a real strong connection with. Has talked to you several times a week and comes to watch some of your games, visits at school, visits at home, etc for maybe a year or two or more. You feel so close to this guy, and then just like that, he up and leaves the school.

That could be a huge deal breaker for most recruits.

On another note, since we didn't get Phillips even with Haley, I'm all for going 100% in on coach O as DL coach.

Do you think a solid DC hire could revive Lewis's interest?

Honestly probably none. This guy has not really recruited at LSU. His lack of recruiting skill has put us where we are in terms of DE's and LB's.

None yet, and hopefully, there will be none total. Mack is from Texas and has been predicted to TAMU by just about everyone of the guys in recruiting, even when he said LSU, TCU, and whoever else.

Phillips is a kid from Nashville, who has been predicted to Tenn since he switched from another Tennessee school, Vandy, a year ago.

I could end up wrong, but I think both kids stay in state no matter whether they flip a million times between now and NSD.

It could, but very unlikely. Another kid from MS, who is likely staying in state. I'm never surprised by anyone playing for a school in their home state, even if we thought we were in the lead.

Dylan Mack broke my heart. I have an infatuation with DT's. Seemingly, they're the most important position to have a solid player at IMO.

coaching hoops, I always liken things to basketball. If someone beats you airing it out on long passing plays, oh well. But when they continually run up the middle it's the 'getting bitched' of football.
Just like I'd rather give up three's than getting punked by giving up lay-ups on the home court

at least Louisiana is STACKED at the position NEXT YEAR

but im getting old
