It was announced yesterday that Tigers minor league right-hander Cesar Carrillo was suspended 100 games for violating the minor league drug prevention and treatment program. No specific drug was mentioned in the announcement, but it was later confirmed that the suspension was the result of his connection to the Miami-based Biogenesis clinic. But there’s a whole lot more where that came from.

Sources tell @OTLonESPN Carrillo hit w two offenses: 50 games for being on Biogenesis documents, 50 for lying to MLB about knowing Bosch.

Carrillo, a minor leaguer, not protected by union, so MLB came down hard. Put strong pressure on him to cooperate, but he didn't.

MLB is actively going after any players connected to Biogenesis clinic. Carrillo is only the first. A-Rod and Braun strongly in their sights

Getting A-Rod and Braun will be tougher. Any attempt to suspend will be met w well-financed defense in arbitration & Braun is already 1-0.

Ryan Braun, Alex Rodriguez, Melky Cabrera, Nelson Cruz, Gio Gonzalez, Jhonny Peralta, Yasmani Grandal, Francisco Cervelli, Bartolo Colon, Jesus Montero and Danny Valencia are among the major leaguers who have been linked to the clinic. MLB will obviously have a tougher time putting the hammer down on that group since they are protected by the union, but it’s clear that this story is far from over. It was reported earlier this week that the Florida Department of Health has opened an investigation into Biogenesis and Dr. Anthony Bosch, a potentially important development, but it remains to be seen whether they have any interest in cooperating with MLB.

Give it up. All this is us a head hunt. Everyone does some sort of something for an edge.

This story is old, worn-out, and tired. Threads like these are just fuel to the writers that continually whine and moan about PEDs. The writers know that it will launch their name by finding a baseball player taking PEDs. All the while, football and basketball players are all left alone and if one of them are caught, there's a small 2-word snippet and its left alone.

It's absurd that people make such a big deal about PEDs and baseball.

One players linked to report caught 100 game ban, of course he was a minor league guy and not protected by union. When initial report surfaced I dismissed it but there may be something to it now

This is all still part of it.... It may drag out throughout the season. Looks like it is going to depend on how accurate this biogenesis is and how much information they can dig up. If they can show players purchased it they could possibly suspend them.
