Soccer Board Intervention/Rules Thread

Fellas, what happened to the SB camaraderie and homosexuality of years gone by? We're all supposed to be closet hipster footy fanatics, united through progressive policies and witty mockery. Instead we resemble the Dead Rabbits and Natives from the Five Points.

Without an active admin we need to be able to conduct ourselves reasonably. The new members are welcome additions, but we can't abandon our previously held principles. Let's try to adapt to move towards quantity, while still maintaining the quality. We don't want to drive away veteran posters like other boards have.

From henceforth:

Trolling will not be permitted. It has gotten out of hand and needs to be strangled. A troll is defined as: someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. We all know the difference between normal banter and trolling. The use of the word "troll" also needs to be dumbed down. Not every single post is a troll post.

Gifs/"funny" pictures will be posted sparingly and appropriately. The gifs are completely out of control. There is a time and place for gifs on forums, and only true e-professionals should possess the privilege of using them.

The terrible/spam thread starting must cease to exist. Threads don't need to be started just because you had a thought. You know what a terrible thread is in your mind, don't start it.

No more "season long" threads. The clubs with well-established fan bases on here need season long threads in order to keep the board tidy. I promise you don't want 4000 Liverpool/Arsenal posts on the main board. "Season long PSV Eindhoven Thread" or "Season long Hott Chelsea First Team Doctor Thread" doesn't need to be started.



Feel free to add your propositions. Any rule that is agreed upon/voted down will be added/removed from the OP. Most boards have a "rule" thread stickied and we apparently need one too.
