It opened up recently on Ambassador Caffery. Has anyone been yet? If so, how was it? I'm thinking about going there tonight.

Not far from the house, but that location has been the deathbed for all previous restaurants.

Write back and let us know what you thought, k thanks.

Odd dish to build a restaurant around.

Macaroni Grill
Picantes
Sage

If I remember correctly the Picantes was doing well up until they were caught up in that credit card number swiping crap a couple years back. After that business never picked back up. I don't even think Sage lasted 6 months there. That location just seems doomed.

On a side note I've noticed the old Copeland's building seems to be begging to be turned into a tit bar.

we went last week and that was for the last time.It was not good.I will go back to La Pagua or the tienda out university. When a Mexican chain comes here from McComb Mississippi that should tell you something.

My girlfriend and I went on Sunday, and we won't be going back.

We walked in right behind another party, so the hostess took them to a table while we waited. A server walked up to us and seated us in his section.

We then order drinks and an appetizer. The server comes back to the table and explains to us that because another table had a problem with a different server, he would have to be their waiter and she would have to be ours, but we needed to move tables. So we had to pick up our drinks, plates, etc. and move literally one table over. The woman server then handled our table.

I wasn't pissed about having to move, but it seemed really odd to ask people already seated and eating to move for any reason, let alone internal server problems.

Somewhere in the move between the male server and our female server, our appetizer order was lost -- our meals came out before the appetizer, and my girlfriend based her meal selection based on getting the app.

She ordered the black bean soup, which she said tasted like "someone opened a can of black beans and poured it into a bowl." She wasn't pleased.

I ordered the ground beef chimichanga. It wasn't anything special.

The appetizer we got -- guacamole dip -- wasn't all that great either.

All of the food seemed very generic -- it's what you could expect at any ole cheap Mexican place that opens. It felt like it fit a "format" or a "template" rather than being able to stand on its own (if that makes sense?)

Awkward service with sub-par food. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

An oriental soup?

I like wonton soup when I'm feeling puny, though it's not chicken, usually.

that will work fine. im just tired of apple sauce, sweet potatoes, chai tea w soy milk and yogurt. i want something savory that isnt cream based. my mom made chowder and heavy soups for me, but ive been doing awesome with my diet lately and dont want to put on any weight, especially when i cant even chew.

I completely understand. That's one reason I get those soups even though I love cream based soups.

Wonton soup shouldn't be too hard to chew since the pork in the wontons is ground. Egg drop soup, if you can find a good one, is another one I go to for puny times.

If you want some decent Tortilla Soup, try the older of the Messican joints right up the street, Possados. They are hit and miss, the soup is always good but one day its swimming with chicken remnants, the next day none. The flavor is always consistant though.
