3 Picks to be excited about if you hear, "There has been a trade..."

#15 Miami
Why them?
The desperately want to move back for a QB or Ingram later. They don't have a 2nd Rd pick.
Who would it mean for the Saints?
Robert Quinn, Aldon Smith, or Daquann Bowers
Jump in front of Jags, Pats, Chargers, & Bucs who are all DE taking contenders
What would it cost in picks?
Miami #15 + #146 (5th Rd)
for
Saints #24 + #56 (2nd Rd)
#17 New England
Why them?
They make moves to position themselves for certain players more than any other team. They have a trade history with the Saints.
Who would it mean for the Saints?
Possibly the same 3 above, not as likely tho, and add Kerrigan as a possibility.
Leap frog over Chargers and Bucs who would like good valued DEs
What would it cost in picks?
New England #17 + #172 (6th Rd)
for
Saints #24 + #72 (3rd Rd)
#19 New York Giants
Why them?
They might easily project an OT or DT they like as being available 5 picks later. Saints had a deal worked out with them for Cofield last year but couldn't come to terms on a new deal with Cofield.
Who would it mean for the Saints?
Hard to project Smith or Quinn possible at all this far down. Bowers has the big questions and it's an unknown how far that knocks him down, maybe. If they grade Kerrigan as a significantly better choice than which DEs will remain it could be worth taking him before division rival TB takes him at 20.
What would it cost in picks?
New York Giants #19 + #185 (6th Rd)
for
Saints #24 + #88 (3rd Rd)
Listed the DEs but if they don't have Charles Brown pegged as the LT the same surprise move could be made for Tyron Smith or Castonzo.

I hate every one of those scenarios. I'd rather keep the picks or even trade down.
From what I've seen there is no one worth getting excited enough to trade up that many spots.

I think maybe the Titans or 49ers too but us moving back and them moving back into the first round to nab a QB....

yup, plenty of move back scenarios, just listing what I think are the most likely potential move-up spots.
Just kinda a heads up for picks before #24 comes around.

AGREED. those scenarios all blow.. someone will fall back to the saints at that position

Tyron Smith or Robert Quinn would be amazing.
Dont know if I like giving up our 1st and 2nd to get to #15 though.

i could see quinn going 10th.. and bowers may very well fall all the way to the saints.. i just don't wanna lose a 2nd.. not when this draft is deep with defensive linemen.

This guy would be naked street dancing if we got Quinn. That guy is a freak of nature and was the best player in the nation coming into this season. Literally it would be our best 1st round pick in ages to get Quinn.

I'd move up if we could get Robert Quinn.
Question for the board. Can Quan Sturdivant play OLB? I really liked his play this year and think we could get him in the third round. Was just wondering what everyone else thought.

I think so. He’s got the athleticism, versatility and production that Williams seems to look for in his picks.

Would you think that Miami would be a bit more desperate without having that 2nd rounder?
In other words, would that 5th turn into a 4th, or would they throw in a pick from next year?
The only problem with trading with the Saints for a QB is what Seattle does. Say Miami does the deal and picks at 24. Seattle could then jump them by a couple of picks and take the QB they want. Not sure if the Dolphins would want to go that far down.

Getting a good DE to me is more important then DT or OLB. I just don't see a good value player falling to us at the 24th spot. I would love them to trade up to grab a Aldon or Quinn.

--I've mocked Sturdivant in the 3rd to the Saints previously. I think they had additional visiting with him too.
--#24 to #15 is 310pts however ya can wrangle them. Both the 3rd rders are 380. You could go those instead of a 2nd and get Miami's 4th Rd
The second tier of QBs are very close. I've found no clear consensus of order/rating between Dalton, Locker, Ponder, & Mallett. There is a world of difference value wise of the commitment to a guy in the top half of the first round vs. 24 onward (and add a draft pick in the process). Same thing with Ingram that Miami could still want. Just a lot sweeter 10 picks later.
This post was more on the moving up part and who could be had. With none of those happening it could be even more probable for one of the teams that didn't get one of the top 2 QBS before #24 to trade back in to leap frog Seattle.
Something like the Titans #39, 77, & 142 for the Saints #24 would be about right

If we could trade up for Daquann Bowers I would be all for it. I know there are questions around that knee but he's a great talent

i would rather trade back than up personally unless someone special is on the board

Von Miller, Patrick Peterson, AJ Green, and Julio Jones will all be gone by the teens. There are no other "special" players in this draft.
I don't see a single DE, DT, or LB that's worth giving up multiple picks for. Sorry. I just don't.

Really? A first and second rounder for Robert Quinn? No thanks.
I'd take him for sure, but not for two picks. No way. There are too many DE in this draft to trade up for one IMO. None of them appear to be Julius Peppers or Mario Williams types to me.
