Couple weeks back the number of whistlers started steadily declining on the lake where I live here in Rapides Parish. Mid August I would have as many as 40 or so would walk/fly from the lake to eat under a bird feeder I have on the edge of my patio. I even added some cracked corn to try and keep them around but....poof, all gone.

Maybe the rice field and marsh hunters still have enough hanging around to give the new season a try,

Yeah, Dove too.

Almost like they have the seasons memorized. Or, Pavlov’s theory…

“I even added some cracked corn”

Some lucky hunter is going to bring home some corn fed ducks.
