We stayed here last year and it is a perfect spot to tour Yellowstone and do everything else. And it is right on the Yellowstone River.

They didn't exist last time I was up there, but will keep it in mind.

Yep, Mountains Walking is the best beer IMO. MAP brewing is my favorite spot though due to the space itself.

Just rent a boat diy you will be fine.

This is absolutely terrible advice for someone that wants to use a guide. Those boats aren’t rocket science but shite can get dangerous quick and going down some rivers without experience is stupid and dangerous. There’s a boating death almost yearly out west from someone drowning.

ETA: also, you don’t fish and drive the boat at the same time. It’s a 2 man operation. So if you are by yourself or just with a kid, you hire a guide so you can fish. If you wanted to kayak down river and pull off to fish spots that’s one thing. Still not recommended though.

LSUNW is correct though OP your first question needs to be ‘what rivers do you fish’. If someone only tells you one river, you should consider calling someone else. Some areas the guides have to be licensed for certain rivers or certain sections of rivers even, some guides especially the more just basic tourism guides only fish one section of one river.

You want a guide that fishes multiple rivers and will take you to whatever is best at the moment.

ETA2: also OP if you want to keep the trout to eat you need to ask ahead of time. Many of the guides think ‘the trout are my business partner, I’d never kill my business partner’ then goes on to tell me he guides elk hunts…

Was it a pain getting in and out of the park every day from there?
