I dont know a person who ever caught a tarpon on purpose
including fly rod in FL and Mexico. 0-3 on fly hookups in LA(very difficult to land them in LA cuz they are in deeper water and when they sound - that's all she wrote. but I've caught several on rod n reel in La.

My neighbor is crazy about tarpon; he even won the GITR a couple times. I did not have the patience for it when we tried it out.

Omega protein has very close contacts with organized crime btw. Completely destroyed the recreational fishing along the coast for bad smelling crap
