I'm kinda comme ci comme ca about it for myself. There are plenty deer at our camp and I should get a couple of them, no problem.

But I got an old buddy of mine to join our club and I really want him to have a great 1st year. Also, my son gets out of boot camp and into the LA gaurd; and he will have time to hit the camp this year.

It might be weird, but I just want other people to have good hunts?

Can’t wait to go do a little pre-season scouting and find a badass spot, get super hyped about it, set up at it on opening morning and have 5 other hunters within eye sight when the sun breaks on that hot arse October morning.
But yeah I’m anxious, probably going to take my bow to get tuned and change the sight on it today. Ready to get in the woods and do some scouting.

I can get as much deer meat as I need in Mississippi. I'm after hogs over here lol

Last year i was off of work on a tuesday and decided to do a quick afternoon hunt. drove through and maybe 1 or 2 other vehicles were there. I found a decent spot about a quarter mile off of the road. 20 minutes later a dude gets in a tree 100 yards from me. I thought maybe he had come in from another road but nope....he was parked right behind my car. I didn't realize that's how things work there, 60000 acres with 4 people hunting it and dude has to park on top of me and follow me in.

This is why I take a boat if I’m hunting Sherburne. Even in a boat it gets bad. I did find 1 spot that was sketchy getting to in my gatortail that I guess no one else had the balls to get to. Never saw anybody in that spot and I heard a few boats trying to get to where I was but failed. Unfortunately, I never saw a deer there either.

even during bow season? I have a little 14 jon that I can get through some sketchy shite, hell if I'm with a buddy it's light enough to pull the motor and carry for a short distance.

I've had good luck on Mississippi public land hunting close to roads or in spots where a lot of folks pass up thinking that either somebody else gotta be hunting there or they are just trying to get really far away from roads. Never killed a big buck like that but plenty of does on the homochitto. I've heard that's a nogo on sherburne.

I'm pumped. Checked a couple scopes and set another this past weekend. Actually planted a few bow plots Sunday. Finished dialing my bow in yesterday and built me a better linemans belt for hanging my lock ons since my ascender and rope finally came in. This thing kicks arse compared to the shitty belts you get with harnesses or in stores

FIFY. I mean, if you live in the US of A, there is somewhere you can hunt deer in just about every state. It's whether you want to or not.

I've hunted all day on public land twice in the past 2 years at Indian River. Didn't see a thing. I live in Gonzales. There's just not that many places close to here. Granted, it isn't at the top of my priorities due to time.

I do. Depending on where the 13 acres is, it could be pretty good. Most the big bucks in the parish are along the river, and around subdivisions. The Bluffs has some monsters

well if that's the case I'm going put a camera out lol. thanks!

went in once and there were some tracks as big as my hand in there. There are a couple of big oaks. I think the deer are just passing through, though. not much in there to hold them.
