What's with outdoor and fly shop hours?

I know what you mean. The fly shop my son works at is like this, and we often talk about how they'd probably make quite a few more sales by being open on Sunday and closing on a random mid-week day (I think Mondays are also a good day to be open because a lot of people extend weekend trips by a day or might get into town on a Monday and need to rig out for the week).

Bike shops are often the same way, being closed on Sunday... and generally Saturday/Sunday are the days most people are riding and might break something and need a repair. I think it's because they have a hard time staffing the shops on Sundays.

I've bought more outdoor gear, dropped off/picked up guns at the 'smith, and deer at the processor during M-F business hours than weekends. I travel all over the state for work and that's when it's convenient for me to slip in places - St. Landry Lumber, Spotted Dog, Shooters, TP Outdoors, Hewitt's, Puglia's, etc.

Thought I was going to pick up a client in Bastrop, but that didn't work out. I would imagine back in the day it was cool to leave the paper mill with your paycheck and walk straight into Simmons.

I know it isn't outdoor related, but donut shops are the same way. One opened up near our church, and I swung by one Sunday morning to grab donuts for the kids Sunday school class I was teaching, and they're closed. I could see 3 steeples from the parking lot, and I know a 4th church was just up the hill around the curve. You could make bank being open from 8-10 Sunday morning.

Never thought of it this way, good point. Unfortunately if I'm in a different city for work (like houston) and have some down time, I usually seek out a fly shop or sporting shop and waste some money. I always try to bring my wife something which stacks a layer on top of the "oh I need one of these" issues.

Last week found some wading booties on sale. The sale rack is your friend. I dont' see how some shops stay in business with how much is on sale but I dont' complain.
