After getting back from my 4th trip on sunday it was time to get back on the water. Topwater Tiger and his son joined me for some catching. We caught and released 60-70 trout from 11"-18" and left them biting. Water was stained with an incoming tide and opening night and chartruse little jons/sand eels did the trick.
Only one trout was harmed in the mayhem so you can release and get solid return numbers.

Spent a few days at Black Bayou entrance to the ship canal.
Never really caught anything hot and heavy, but had some spurts under the lights on glow little johns. Out in the yak, my best bites were on Matrix tips under spins. No idea what the trout liked about that spinner, but it was way better than a normal jig head. There were small flounder in the cuts. Only two I caught were clear fileters.

Caught only 3 in this class,

I am unfamiliar with the area. The map says black lake bayou. It runs to Spicer-Hughes.

I lost the spinner on my first one that looked like this:

I ended up buying these locally

I tore off that color and put on a Matrix body with a little darker color for that stained water.

Kelso is where you were, bet that jig would be tits on the channel on an incoming tide.

Thanks. Looking to reserve that house again in November for the flounders.

You can get those Strike King ones at the Cajun Fast Mart.

We had easy limits on Big Lake and probably caught over 300 fish this weekend (about 70 sail cats on Thursday). The main bite was right at sunrise, then from 9-10, then from 3-5. Satruday morning it was so foggy we couldn't make it to where we caught them the day before so stopped off at a reef and had 10 solid 16" trout before even going to our main spot.

Bone DSLs, Glo Sand Eels and hard plastics were the trick. Only bought shrimp one day and may have used 10.

It was a nice last adventure before Lil' Crawfish gets here.
