WEEKEND FISHING REPORT

We had a good time out in Green Canyon this weekend! We left out of Dularge. Slick calm seas, couldn't have asked for any calmer. Picked up about 20 live hardtail on the way out and got to Brutus around 8:00. I brought the 1st tuna in the boat around 9:00, a 5 lb black fin
needless to say we threw him back. I started slow, lots of flying fish but nothing busting them at the surface. We started catching eventually and ended up with 2 yellowfin and 7 blackfin. All on diamond jiggs, they wouldnt hit live bait
Me and another guy on the trip hooked up on what seemed to be 100+ lb yellowfin! We each fought for 15-30 min then it spit the hook, very disheartning to lose something like that after a tiring fight
In the morning we moved inland back onto the shelf. We lost the blue water fast. We stopped at a SS platform and put 4 really nice mangrove snapper in the boat. This is where it gets fun, someone hooks up on a big lemon fish, as soon as he gets it to the boat, 4 more the same size show up following it! We ended up catching 4 of the 5 of them!! We threw anything with a hook out to them and they hit it. That was definetly the highlight of the trip.
All in all, it was a great trip! Good fishing, good people, good music, and great beer!
Few pictures I took with my phone, I'll try to get the ones from the camera on board of the fish and I'll post them later

How many other boats were with you at Brutus?

I talked to a buddy and they ended with 5 yellows and 13 blacks...they probably went a little deeper than Brutus.

I like the lemon fish part at the end. I love eating lemon. We had the same thing happen to us a few years back. It was only 3 in a school and we caught two of them.

Yes I know them all except Ross. Craig is a good dude, wish I had half his wealth.

Took advantage of the cool weather on Saturday, and caught a big mess of catfish and bream in about twenty minutes. Then I sent back and sat in the air conditioning.

After a little battery trouble put us in the water an hour late, we lauched out of BSM and fished the beaches in Bay Eloi right outside the short rocks. We put 13 reds in the boat within 2 hours, only one of which was under 22 inches. The reds disappeared and we put 6 flounder in the boat in quick succession. That spot was turning off so we tried a few spots in Lake of Two Trees where we usually fish but only put one decent drum and another 5 specks in the boat. All in all, not a bad day.

i was going to take my pirogue down to a little lake south of town but after i dragged it out of the backyard i discovered the trolling motor was shot. could be the battery. nevertheless i'm going to try and get it up and running this week.
