Ok so every summer my backyard gets overrun with these devil things. I kill them and even leave their bodies scattered about to scare their buddies from choosing my yard, but it never works.

Are there ANY preventative measures I can take??

All I do now is hunt for their nests and wait till night time to spray the hell out of them. But they must have hidden nests in my balcony or along my fence or...who freaking knows.

Advice on how to keep them from growing in numbers before summer time gets here?

If there is a few places where they always make nests each year, I would spray it now. Then again in a month.

Just keep nukin em I guess.

Not sure if this matters, but as the gekko numbers at my house have gone up, the wasp numbers seem to have gone down. Maybe you could inport some gekkos???

You have to behead them, and leave their heads around the yard Vlad style, on toothpicks.

Will remember to do this...

So just spray empty space now? Wouldnt rain wash away any poison, thus defeating that purpose?

I'm already seeing a few flying around. I dont get it, it's like something in my yard attracks them.

you may be on to something. Growing up I would get stung almost everytime I cut my parents yard and I never saw gekkos. Now that Im all growed up and have my own house I have noticed that I have hundreds of gekkos but hardly any wasp

Any exposed steel? Wasps seem to love steel for some reason.

Not really....They get up on the ceiling of my balcony, under the overhang of the balcony (wood), under the fence posts that keeps all the boards up (wood- and sorry for terminology), up in my patio umbrella, and inside my outdoor light fixtures (plastic)

I do have gekkos...and I don't mind them. Maybe ill go on a gekko hunt one night in the neighborhood and put them all in my yard

Yeah if it is in the wide open and will be hit with alot of rain then yes it will wash off. If it only gets damp when it rains like an over hang or something that is pretty much out of the direct rain then no. Most Wasps dont build nest in places where they will get drenched every time it rains. Also most of those sprays have an oily residue and not easily washed away.

A damn flatbed trailer is wasp heaven. Standard procedure at work in the summer. Going hook up to the gooseneck? Make sure you bring the soap and water backpack sprayer. You got a war to fight first

I would call Billy the Exterminator and his magic powder/spray/smoke stuff.

I used to have the things all over my yard in La, and there isn't much you can do but start to kill them once you see them. It's a maintenance issue and you have to be vigilant in keeping the bastards out, or they seem to attract more. Not much you can do to prevent them from showing up

I'll take wasps over spiders.

Idk if they help the wasps, but they are cool to watch on the window at night either way.

I was afraid of this. But I do get all excited after I've gone on a killing spree and wiped out like 10 at a time. I get all pumped up and my adrenaline kicks in.

I'll also try spraying where they normally nest.

Thanks guys
