Stagger is the way to go
Figure out if you want high, medium or low energy dogs. Do you want a puppy? That’s a lot of work. Or perhaps check out local rescue groups for a 1-2 year old dog. Often they are being fostered and the fosters can give you insight on temperament. These dogs are probably house trained too. You’ll spend a lot less on the dog. That’s the route I’ve taken over that last 20+ years and have had 4 great mixed breed dogs. Lab/doberman mix, lab/pit mix, and lab/ Great Dane mix. All have been great

The shelters are FILLED with labs. For some reason, hunting dogs such as labs and beagles get discarded.

I have a 7 year old Harlequin Great Dane that’s the greatest dog I have had or will ever have. I got her when she was 6 weeks old and she’s by my side everywhere I go. I take her to work every day. I dread the day I lose her knowing they have a short life expectancy. Would I do it again? Without question
