We got one. Like another poster said we basically rebuilt the entire thing. The metal base frame is pretty solid. But we gutted it and basically reframed the entire top and changed out the floors. Now the roof leaks.
I probably wouldnt do it again. Just spend the extra money to buy a used camper

speaking of...the trailer farm in Holden is starting to demo the camper frames and stack up the trailer frames, which should still be in good shape with a little axle/tire/hub TLC

my wife watches a lot of tiny home TV...has me thinking
I'm actually working on some framing plans now

You know why landowners are letting the trailers sit there and rot? Because FEMA is paying them (with your tax dollars) to "store" those trailers. Thousands upon thousands a month in rent for trailers that can't be used anymore. It's unreal.

Not to mention, one of my buddies had a FFEMA contract after Katrina for five years storing ice. He had a warehouse with giant freezers in it and FEMA paid him to store bags of ice for years on end. Frozen water. Boggles the mind. No one could explain why they wouldn't just buy some ice machines and, in the event of a disaster, simply make a bunch of ice to ship to the location. Nope. Store the stuff.

those trailers are all privately owned, bought at auction
nobody is paying to store them he just couldn't sell them after they sat up rotting for years
